You cannot get to it from under the bumper because the locking mechanism is in the trunk lid. There is one suspicious hole in the lid trim liner, so I may investigate further.

Sep 25, 2021. My trunk wouldn't open with the remote or push button. Checking the fuses, I found #16 was blown. I replaced the fuse and now the remote will open the trunk. The push button works when all the doors are unlocked. The manual says the push button should work when the doors are locked and the remote is within 3 feet, but it does not.
